There is some menace in this eagle, gazing at the far away flock. In stark contrast to the preceding dove, the music is sharp beaked with sharp talons and sharp eyesight (hence “acciptrally” which literally means “sharp eyed’.) The setting is another round plus a coda. So far from an audience dozing off you can keep them wide awake with a consistent forte, strong emphasis on the dissonances and by accenting the first beat of each two-bar phrase even when it drop to the low C.
