This is set as a four-part round followed by a strong and bold coda. The arrangement of the round begins with the basic tune presented over drones though you could just as easily begin straight off with the four-parts in descending order beginning in bar 27. The voices can also be freely mixed, combining male and female voices in octaves. However you choose to play around with the round the coda follows a more conventional SATB format and can be sung boldly at least four times: a warm and cosy overcoat, or “upper-coat” to use Lear’s more archaic term.
